摘要：UV absorbers comprising compounds of formula (I) are new : R<1>-R<4>,R<3>', R<3>\each pair of substituents on adjacent C atoms can combine to form an optionallysubstituted 1-4 (3-4)C alkylene group, in which one methylene group can be replaced byO, S or NH, or alternatively they can be 1-4C alkoxy, OH, carboxy, carbalkoxy or
carbamoyl ; R<5>, R<6> = R<1>, R<2>, sulpho or aminosulphonyl; X, Y = CN, CO2R<9>,CO2NR<9>R<10> or COR<9>, or one of these two groups can be 1-8C alkyl, 5-10C aryl(preferably phenyl) or 5-6-membered heteroaryl containing 1-2 heteroatoms chosenfrom N, O or S, or X and Y can combine with the beta-position atom to which they arebonded to form a 5-7-membered ring containing up to 3 heteroatoms (preferably Oand/or N) and which is optionally substituted, preferably with exocyclic double-bonded Oatoms (i.e keto groups), most preferably adjacent to the beta-position atom ; R<9>,R<10> = H, 1-8C alkyl or 5-10C cycloalkyl ; and n, m = 0-1. The preparation of (I) by thecondensation reaction of compounds of formula (II) with compounds of formula (III) is
also claimed.
